Alone

I have walked
this desolate path,
afraid of those
who smile and laugh.
I have been afraid
to socialize,
to be part of the crowd..
I would rather seclude myself
and be alone.

This path,
I walk with others
although they are only mere shadows.
I realize that they are there.

They understand
what I am feeling,
And I understand them.

It is on this lone path,
That I find comfort,
That I find the inner strength
To spread my wings and fly...
